About Laiba

I am accountant by profession. I completed all my studies in pakistan and Urdu is my first language. I have experience of teaching at university and now that I live in the UK, I prefer to continue my interest through teaching young children who struggle to speak in Urdu with their parents.

About the lesson

For the best learning experience, I believe continuous lectures is not the best way to teach Urdu - especially to our innocent youth!

My lessons are more interactive - for example, starting off my course by teaching the basic commonly used phrases and sentences, then breaking these sentences by nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives etc. From my experience, I have found this methodology to be more effective and ultimately kids learn quicker!

There are 3 stages of the course (beginner, intermediate and advanced).

The Beginners course consists wholly speaking and listening at a basic level. This is a good introduction especially for when the child has little link with the Urdu language, or where other languages are used in the home (for e.g. Mirpuri, Pothwari, Farsi, Pashto or Punjabi).

At the intermediate stage, the student is expected to converse in Urdu at the basic level and is now expected to learn the Urdu alphabet. The student will learn the Urdu grammar, and at the end of the course, will be expected to write short stories

The advance stage requires the student to read and write, making good use of advanced vocabulary and ability to debate on various topics. The final assessment will consist of a 9 page-long essay from pre-selected topics, which must be delivered hand written and a 1 hour verbal assessment which will either be in the form of a Question and Answer test or a debate on pre-selected general topic.

Prices:
- Beginners stage - £14 per child per hour
- Intermediate stage - £22 per hour
- Advanced stage - £35 per hour

The rate per hour for beginners is non-negotiable, but at intermediate and advanced levels, rates are negotiable based on a initial assessment of the students existing knowledge.
