About Shan
I am a final year Bcom Accounting and finance student who is looking to make some extra income (we all know the student budget struggles) I have always had a passion for teaching, from helping my friends to actually tutoring accounting throughout my second year. I am Afrikaans as well as English so I have found I completely understand the struggles of second language Afrikaans while finding ways to navigate through them and I would like to share those skills with students who are struggling with the language or students who wish to take it to the next step and excel within the language.

- I have connections with afrikaans teachers/markers within the IEB system and can guide students appropriately regarding the standard of work/type of questions etc.
- I believe in "one step at a time" - for many, Afrikaans is extremely daunting thus I intend to help my students feel comfortable and find the enjoyment in the language without feeling overwhelmed.
- Consistency is key and failure to plan is planning to fail. Each student is different & therefore requires different things however my standard rule is I need to know beforehand what the student wishes to cover in the lesson so that adequate preparation is done to ensure the student gets the most out of the lesson.
- There is no such thing as a stupid question. I always try my best to keep my students comfortable and engaged.
