About Shirley

Hello, I'm Shirley, a fully registered Mathematics teacher who is passionate about helping students develop confidence and success in math.

I believe that building a positive relationship with each student is the foundation of effective learning. Every child is unique, so I take the time to understand their personality, learning style, strengths, and goals. By creating a supportive and encouraging environment, students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence.

My teaching approach focuses on making math meaningful and relevant. I enjoy connecting mathematical concepts to real-life situations so that students can better understand how math is used in everyday life. This helps make learning more engaging and shows students that math is not just about numbers, but a valuable life skill.

I work with students from Year 1 to Year 10, tailoring lessons to suit each individual's ability and pace of learning. Whether a student needs extra support with foundations, help with homework, or wants to strengthen their skills and confidence, I provide patient, structured guidance every step of the way.

My goal is not only to improve academic results but also to help students develop a positive mindset towards math. Seeing students gain confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals is the most rewarding part of teaching.

I look forward to supporting students on their learning journey and helping them discover that they can succeed in math with the right guidance and encouragement.

My Approach to Tutoring

Hello, I'm Shirley, a fully registered Math teacher with experience supporting students from Year 1 to Year 10 General Mathematics.

I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to the individual's level, learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement. My goal is to build both mathematical understanding and confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Regular revision to strengthen foundational skills and close learning gaps.

30-minute online lessons, focused and engaging to maximize learning and maintain concentration.

Experience teaching and supporting students across primary and lower secondary year levels.
Strong understanding of curriculum requirements and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
