About Jon
This website is a fantastic idea.... Music should be available for all, so helping those who can't afford it is a great thing in my eyes and should be supported!
I began playing the Violin aged 7 and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester. I follow a career as a freelancer, both performing & teaching... I see teaching as an art form in its own right and find that every person is different, therefore every student will be different... Different needs, responsiveness, outlook and way of thinking and working etc. I pride myself in having an ability to adapt to each individual, and be able to tailor a lesson for each individual. It's important to be able to quickly find the way to make each student get the most out of what they are doing, in terms of results and also equally importantly, the amount of enjoyment factor. I find that I am able to get on with people from all walks of life and this is a useful trait as both a teacher and a professional player, as your work and the people who you work with is always varied..... On the performing side I am doing everything from session recordings for other musicians and pop artists, TV work (Children in Need, X factor, This Morning, Chat Shows etc) to Symphony Orchestra gigs, Solo and Quartet gigs, Recitals and Concerto performances.... On the teaching side, I cover from primary school through to University student ages. I have also taught adult learners and am happy to do so... It may well be easier to start young but it's never too late!! I am happy to travel within the selected boundary and also am able to teach at my home. Please feel free to message with any enquiries, and also even if a slot appears taken, please check... As I work freelance, I can sometimes 'reshuffle' if needed but I try to give students a regular time slot to stick to and keep it simple for regular lessons.
