About Ava
I love baking and making colorful messes during my school days and free times to myself. I'm a freshman at Gramercy Arts High School, majoring in visual arts. I love all animals and everything, and find extreme fascination in biology and chemistry. But that's not all that's in the bundle! When I was younger, I hated tutoring. I thought it was a waste, that I wouldn't even get better. Growing up now and looking back, I was wrong. Tutoring is supposed to be support, to have someone help you with learning your mistakes and nerve-wracking tests. I'm quite a bundle of energy, as my mom says, who's shown me how to get to where I am now, and we're both walking blind into this. Everyone is. I'm here to give your jitterbugs assistance, guidance, and learning, but I make sure it's not a boring experience. I'm here to show that there really is fun in learning, and that the best way to go forward is to believe in yourself. I show them that I'm here to cheer them on, to help revise mistakes, to be a shoulder to lean on when the going gets tough, to show that they need to be proud of themselves first, not anyone else.

I can teach K-6 mathematics, assist in preparation for a Living Environment/Biology regents, and basic biology, with a twist! I teach everything with sprinkles, teaspoons, no tablespoons of fun! Making sure 1, your child gets the help and learning to succeed, and 2, making sure they have fun! No kid ever wants a boring 1:1 with no light and playfulness, just like me! A typical session would go as the following; -Starting with a quick chat about school, setting goals -A warm up before we get down to business! -Starting with one assignment, breaking it down for them to understand (while keeping them engaged!) -A small break to not feel much pressure, -Finishing up the assignments/test prep -A small game of Jeopardy (or any game) based off what was learned, -And the grand finale, a wrap up chat, to see how they felt during the session, if they feel they are getting the help and feeling like progress was made. The goal is not only understanding for success, but to make them feel proud of themselves. (and you too!) To achieve their goal that they have set for themselves so they get closer to their dream and next milestone! Whether it's graduating, getting better at a certain subject, or feeling a sense of achievement in them. I'm here to teach and assist, but to also cheer for them and help them pick themselves back up when a mistake happens. I'm here to teach and show them that there is a point, to show them that I'm by their side and always on their cheer team! So, do you think your little jitterbug is ready to improve and light up?
