Hi, I’m Asfi!
I am a first year Doctor of Dental Medicine student at the University of Sydney and a GAMSAT Section 2 tutor. I achieved a Section 2 score of 84 after my second sitting, having written over 70 essays and analysed hundreds more.
My undergraduate background is in computer science, which makes my performance in Section 2 somewhat ironic. When I first walked into the GAMSAT, I did so with almost no preparation and a lot of confusion. Yet the section I performed best in was not the one grounded in formulas or technical reasoning, but Section 2. Unlike the others, it relied purely on creativity, clarity of thought, and expression. That was when I realised it was not only the most creative section, but also the most improvable.
Through this process, one thing became clear. Strong writing is not about impressive vocabulary or perfect punctuation. It is about ideas. How deeply you interrogate them, how far you can develop them, and how clearly you can communicate them under pressure.
My tutoring approach avoids memorised templates and rigid structures. Instead, I focus on teaching students how to think more critically, build nuanced arguments, and write with clarity and confidence.

My goal is to ensure you learn how to explore perspectives beyond the obvious, think deeply about the theme and write with enough confidence & control that you can handle any theme thrown at you.
If you’re approaching S2 thinking Task A must be argumentative and task B reflective, you’re missing the point and your potential. GAMSAT doesn’t reward robotic templates. It rewards depth, creativity and originality. You don’t need to be a born writer to achieve an amazing score in S2, you just need to be taught how to get there.
That’s where I come in.
Every lesson is prepared and structured to be tailored towards you and to avoid wasting any time in order to make the most out of our time together. I’ll show you the real difference between an average, good and excellent essay, the subtle tweaks that set responses apart from each other. I’ll break down how to dive deeper under themes, interpret prompts uniquely and execute ideas with clarity and purpose.
My goal is to ensure you learn how to explore perspectives beyond the obvious, think deeply about the theme and write with enough confidence & control that you can handle any theme thrown at you.

Perfect! I found Asfi's ability to break down a question and dig deep into it informative and inspiring. He really helped with my own writing and how to make the most of ideas.

I just want to say a big thank you to Asfi for all the help he gave me with Section 2. His feedback was always honest and specific, and it helped me understand what actually makes a strong argument and a compelling essay. I used to struggle with structuring my thoughts clearly, but Asfi really helped me cut through the fluff and write with more purpose. He’s got a way of breaking things down that just makes sense, and he always took the time to guide me properly.
I'm glad I ran into him :) !Asfi honestly just had this way with themes that made everything feel easier. No matter what prompt or topic came up, he always had something to say straight away. You could tell he had been writing essays for a long time because the way he unpacked ideas was so natural. It never felt forced. He’d just take a theme, break it apart from a bunch of different angles, and suddenly I’d see things I never would’ve noticed on my own.
He was always ready to help too. Whether it was just bouncing around ideas or looking at one of my paragraphs, he had a way of guiding you without taking over. His feedback was actually useful and always made me think deeper.Asfi took the time to walk me through a lot of his own essays and showed me how he approached different themes, perspectives and prompts. It wasn’t just about giving me a formula but helping me see how to think about ideas more deeply and how to write in a way that felt personal but still refined. He gave me feedback on my work and always had something insightful to say when I got stuck or wasn’t sure where to go next.
Even though it wasn’t formal lessons at first, the help he gave me here and there honestly changed the way I looked at Section 2. I started to enjoy writing more and gained a lot of confidence in my ideas. It definitely played a big part in the score I ended up with.
What stood out the most though was how genuine he was throughout the process. Asfi didn’t just become a tutor for me he became a great friend. Someone I could talk to about anything and who genuinely wanted me to do well.I ended up scoring a 76 in Section 2 for the March GAMSAT and studying alongside Asfi played a big role in that. He was always there to answer my questions and the way he explained things made everything click. Section 2 actually became my favourite part of the exam, which I never expected. You could immediately tell how much he loves this section. Every time he gave feedback or talked through an idea, that passion came through.
What really stood out was how much he knows. His understanding of different themes, how to interpret abstract prompts, structure essays, and bring in meaningful depth was honestly on another level. His feedback was specific, honest, and always helped me improve. He never gave vague or generic advice. He really knew how to push my thinking and help me develop ideas that felt original and well argued.
Looking back, his support and guidance throughout prep definitely made a difference in helping me reach that score.View more recommendations
