About Hamish
I am a recent UK medical school graduate and incoming Foundation Year 1 (FY1) doctor, offering engaging and effective GCSE Chemistry tuition.
Chemistry can be one of the most challenging GCSE sciences, but with the right explanations and exam technique, students can make rapid progress in both confidence and grades. Having studied science at a high level throughout medical school, I help students develop a strong understanding of key concepts while also focusing on the skills needed to succeed in examinations.
What I offer:
• GCSE Chemistry tuition for all major exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel)
• Clear explanations of difficult topics such as bonding, quantitative chemistry, rates of reaction, equilibrium, and organic chemistry
• Exam technique and mark scheme analysis
• Practice questions and worked examples
• Support with revision planning and study skills
• Lessons tailored to each student's individual needs and goals
My teaching style is patient, supportive, and focused on building understanding rather than memorisation alone. Whether a student is aiming to pass, improve their predicted grade, or achieve top marks, lessons are adapted to suit their current level and learning style.
As a recent medical graduate, I bring extensive scientific knowledge and experience of high-level examinations, helping students gain both subject confidence and effective study habits.
Lessons are available online and I am happy to discuss individual learning goals before arranging a first session.
In addition to GCSE Chemistry, I offer tuition in Biology at GCSE and A-Level, UCAT preparation, and support for students applying to medical school.
