About Junaid
Hi there! My name is Junaid Ilyas. From a young age, I had a real passion for learning. I was fortunate enough to study GCSE Maths, in Year 9, and went on to achieve an A* in maths, one of my proudest moments in school. But what really stuck with me wasn’t just the grade, it was helping others get there too. I spent time supporting classmates, assisting teachers, and later began private tutoring. Seeing students grow in confidence and improve their grades gave me real satisfaction. Now, I’m ready to do that again — to make a real difference in a student’s journey, not just with results, but with confidence and understanding. My lessons are designed to get to know the students – Ask about their goals, exam boards, confidence levels, and what they enjoy or dislike about maths. I will then assess their current level – Use a short diagnostic quiz or work through a few questions to see where they’re confident and where they struggle. I will then build my lesson around this by targeting their weaknesses and using their preferred learning style. Practice with purpose • Start with guided examples together. • Move to independent questions to build confidence. • Mix in exam-style problems regularly so they get used to the format and pressure. 5. Build confidence each session • Celebrate small wins – even getting one step right is progress. • Show them how much they’ve improved by revisiting past tricky questions. • Keep feedback positive but constructive. End with a quick recap • Summarise what they learned. Set achievable objectives for next time
