About Artem

Hi, I’m Artem. I study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London and have achieved 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry.

I currently support an A-Level Chemistry student who is working to improve from a predicted D. I plan each lesson around the areas they most need to develop, preparing retrieval starters, focused explanations and practice, as well as homework with full answers. I also have one year of one-to-one tutoring experience, including helping a GCSE Chemistry student strengthen his understanding and exceed his target grade.

Whether it is understanding why a circuit behaves the way it does or explaining the chemistry behind a reaction, I enjoy breaking complex ideas down into clear, intuitive explanations.

Having completed these courses recently, I still remember the topics and common mistakes that I initially found difficult. This helps me anticipate where students may become confused and explain ideas from a perspective that makes sense to someone encountering them for the first time.

About the lesson

One thing I often hear from students is that school lessons can move on before they've fully understood a topic. I make sure students feel comfortable asking questions at any point during the lesson, even if they seem simple. Once the foundations are secure, we gradually move towards more challenging questions.

Lessons often begin with a short starter to revisit previous material and identify any gaps. We then cover the main content step by step before applying it to worked examples and exam-style questions. For students who would benefit from additional practice, I can also provide focused homework with answers.

Rather than memorising disconnected facts and formulas, we focus on the reasoning behind them and how different ideas fit together, so that students can apply their knowledge when needed.
