About Solomon

I'm a second-year medical student offering friendly, structured tutoring for GCSE students in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as Combined Science. I have multiple years of tutoring experience, both one-to-one and teaching groups in person.

I achieved grade 9s in GCSE Maths, Biology and Physics, alongside a grade 8 in Chemistry. I then studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-level (AAB) before beginning medical school.

As a medical student, I've had to develop effective ways of learning, understanding and retaining a large amount of information. More importantly, I was recently in the same position as the students I teach, so I understand the GCSE curriculum, the challenges students face and the pressures of preparing for exams.

My aim is to create a supportive environment where students can ask questions freely, build a strong understanding of the subject and become more confident in tackling exam questions independently.

About the lesson

I believe the most effective tutoring starts with building a strong, concrete foundation of understanding. Memorising information alone is rarely enough to achieve top marks. Real academic progress comes from being able to apply knowledge, understand why something works, and use that understanding to solve problems independently.

Lessons are adapted to each individual student and their goals. We can focus on explaining difficult concepts, identifying and addressing gaps in understanding, working through exam questions, improving exam technique, or preparing for an upcoming test or GCSE exam.

I particularly enjoy helping students who feel that a subject is “too difficult”, as well as students who understand the content but struggle to turn that knowledge into marks.

A key part of my teaching is helping students understand what examiners are looking for. I teach students how to structure exam-board-specific answers, apply their knowledge to unfamiliar questions, and maximise the marks available to them.

My goal is not simply to help students get through their next test, but to give them the understanding, skills and confidence to tackle questions independently.
