About Lola

Hello! I'm Lola. I love science and I study medicine at the university of Edinburgh. I'm very passionate about learning myself and I would like to inspire the same enthusiasm in the students I teach. I think most subjects can be made interesting in some way, so I like to incorporate aspects to the classes that can be more engaging than reading and copying- the last thing I want for my students to be is bored in my lessons. I think everyone has a different learning style so this is something I take into consideration when I decide how I am going to handle the session. I think one of the main difficulties children face in school is that it can't be adapted to meet their needs because the teachers need to focus on the whole class, not just them. Therefore, my classes are personalised to what will suit the child best. I

About the lesson

-Figure out what the student knows and doesn't know.
-Go over content that the student is weakest at, breaking it down to be as simple as possible. I often use a mini white board for this
-testing the student throughout the session to ensure they're enaged, but not discouraging them is they get an answer wrong- it is an opportunity to go over it again.
-I like to include many activities in my lessons, because i think this form of active recall is the easiest way to remeber content, and is more stimulating than watching power point presentations.
-I recommend no longer than an hour because otherwise the student can get drained or distracted.
-I have experience in tutoring, as I have offered tuition to multiple different students at different levels in different subject areas
-My GCSE grades were 2 7s, 5 8s, and 3 9s, so I know a lot of very good revision strategies and can offer advice on time management as well as the class content. I am also bilingual, as I speak both Spanish and English.
- At Alevel I achieved 2 A *s and an A in biology, psychology and chemistry, respectively
-I tutor students who are 16 or younger, and am especially good at GCSE science content.
