About Alex
I am an IIT grad and an ex-MBB consultant. I have a 760 / 99 percentile GMAT score with perfect scores of 51 in quant, 8 in Integrated Reasoning and 6 in Analytical Writing Assessment with a 42 in verbal. I had taken the GMAT in the second half of 2018. My GMAT exam was conducted in its latest format with the Quant section at 62 minutes and Verbal section at 65 minutes in duration respectively.
In addition, I have an admit and a full-tuition scholarship from a Top 10 US b-school.
I am passionate about teaching and want to help people get into their dream b-school by helping them succeed at the GMAT. I have already coached GMAT students located in places such as India, Australia and Europe through both in person and online classes.
Based on my own experience applying to B-schools, I think it is critical that you get past the GMAT hurdle quickly and efficiently so that you can focus more of your energy on getting your essays in order. To do that, you should get the right coach (and NOT just a tutor) who can get you to your target GMAT score in one go. I personally do not recommend that you bank on giving the GMAT twice (or even more times as some people might advocate) as it is a waste of time, money and valuable energy - all of which you need for other parts of your b school apps. Instead, prep well and get to your target score in a single attempt.
My teaching methods are a concoction of my skills at Math / English and my knowledge of psychology - especially rapid learning methodologies. I get down to details of your thought process and not just surface level behavior / approach. This also means that the things you learn from me will be applicable in areas of life well outside the GMAT as well.
If you choose to work with me, I will do my best to make sure that you are able to get to your target GMAT score in a single attempt instead of having to appear for the exam repeatedly. Of course, for this to happen you have to be willing to hear / accept the truth about where you stand and to put in the hard work required to build on that.
I don't teach 'fancy' shortcuts that are peddled by a lot of GMAT classes and have found such shortcuts to be damaging for the students' abilities and final score. The longer route might be tough but it also gets you farther than the rest. I focus on strengthening your core problem solving capabilities first before resorting to methods such as substitution, getting 'lucky' with assumptions and so on.
Remember this - Your GMAT score not only influences your chances of admission but is also a determinant of your chances of getting a scholarship, so make sure you give it your best. It can literally save / make you thousands of dollars.

My teaching methods are a concoction of my skills at Math / English and my knowledge of psychology. I use rapid learning methodologies with an emphasis on ensuring that learning is 'fun' for you no matter how much you might 'hate' or be 'afraid' of a topic. I have spent 2-3 years mastering these techniques and applying them to overcome some of my own personal challenges.
If you choose to work with me, I will do my best to make sure that you are able to get to your target GMAT score in a single attempt instead of having to appear for the exam repeatedly which I think is a huge waste of time and money.

I would highly recommend Alex as a tutor for anybody seeking help with GMAT or any other similar tests. I took both online and offline tutorial with him for all sections of GMAT including Quant, Verbal, IR and AWA sections. I score a 750 on the GMAT (Q-50, Verbal-42, AWA-6, IR-7) in the very first attempt itself. Alex has a very patient, simple, clear way of explaining concepts, ideas and approaches that not only make it easy to learn new concepts but also a fun and enjoyable experience while practising questions. As an example, with his parallel concept replacement and mother tongue language thinking techniques, I found myself laughing out loud when solving critical reasoning questions and my accuracy went up from 80℅ to 95℅. I was so amazed by this experience that I decided to work with him for all sections though initially I had planned to do only Verbal.
Alex ensures that you are exhaustively prepared for the exam by discussing in detail, time management techniques for each section separately. He will literally lay out a plan of action for days leading up to GMAT and identify issues you can't even think of. He assists you right down to details of schedule for the day of exam, and steps to be taken a week before that. I am extremely happy for having taken his help and I am sure you will be too.Abhishek has helped me in getting the score 51 quantitative and 42 verbal in GMAT. He has unique teaching methods that simplify even the hardest GMAT language. If someone wants to score high in GMAT then I strongly recommend him. I got GMAT 770 because of him. Thanks
Alex (Abhishek) helped me go from a score of 580 to 730 on the GMAT.
I am glad I found Alex when I did. I had already tried coaching from one of the local GMAT institutes and while their materials were quite useful, I found that their classes were impersonal, ineffective and did not help me deal with my personal weaknesses in any way.
When I gave the GMAT in March this year, I ended up with a score of 580 (Q-39, V-30). On advice of a friend, I spoke to Alex and it was easy to make a decision to work with him thereafter.
The first call with him, was in itself, quite exhaustive as he collected background information about me such as my school and college scores, what I thought my struggle areas were, etc. At the end of the call, he gave me a brief about his teaching methods and what he thought would be the best use of my time as far as working with him was concerned.
He is quite blunt and honest about ensuring that you are getting the best for the money you are spending working with him. He made it clear that he would not spend time teaching me basic math formulas and was happy to guide me for free for 15-20 minutes on that part if required. Instead, his emphasis was more on observing me as I solved problems and applied those formulas.
Alex truly applies many psychological techniques when working with you. I think that is the biggest reason why working with him was such a different experience – the focus was less on formulae and more on overcoming the psychological issues such as fear of numbers, giving up too fast, not writing things on paper and so on. I gave the GMAT again a couple of weeks after working with him on Math alone and my GMAT score went up to 660 (Q-49, V-31)! (I had scheduled the exam before I got in touch with him so could not postpone it.)
Following that, we worked on the verbal section for 3 weeks and once again Alex’s inputs had little to do with teaching me English and more about correcting and organizing my thought process. He taught me memory techniques, visualization and even the proper use of language for critical thinking. All of these things will help me beyond the GMAT as well. Finally, I gave my third GMAT in mid-July and my score was 730 (Q-50, V-40).
I have already recommended four of my friends to Alex and they have all chosen to work with him. I am happy to recommend him as a GMAT tutor any day. Take a trial class with him if you want to – you will not regret it.View more recommendations
