About Jalisa
Hey! Nice to meet you — I’m Jalisa :)
I’m a singer with a lifelong love for gospel and contemporary music, and I’m passionate about helping others discover and develop their own voice. Music has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve spent years singing in choirs, performing solo, and developing my voice through gospel, contemporary, and classical training.
My teaching style is kind, patient, and encouraging. I believe students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and free to explore their voice without pressure or judgment. My goal is to create a positive environment where students can build technique, confidence, and joy in singing at their own pace.
Whether you’re looking to strengthen your voice, prepare for a performance, or simply sing because you love it, I’d be happy to work with you. I look forward to making music together!

My Approach as a Tutor
As a vocal instructor, my goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students can build both their vocal technique and confidence. I believe that every voice is unique, so I tailor each lesson to the individual student’s goals, experience level, and musical interests. My teaching combines healthy vocal technique with creativity and self-expression, helping students grow as both singers and performers.
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My lessons focus on developing strong and healthy vocal habits through:
- Breath support and vocal control
- Pitch accuracy and tone development
- Diction and articulation
- Vocal warm-ups and technical exercises
- Song interpretation and musicality
- Performance confidence
I incorporate both classical and gospel vocal techniques, depending on the student’s interests and style. I also encourage students to bring in songs they genuinely enjoy so lessons remain engaging, motivating, and personalized.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson includes:
1. Physical and vocal warm-ups tailored to the student
2. Technical vocal exercises focused on the student’s needs
3. Repertoire work using a song chosen by the student
4. Constructive feedback and goal-setting for practice between lessons
Lessons are designed to balance technique, creativity, and confidence-building in a relaxed and positive atmosphere!

As a gospel singer with over 10 years of performance experience and a background in both classical and gospel voice, I understand how to help students strengthen not only their technique, but also their emotional connection to music and stage presence. I prioritize creating lessons that are patient, encouraging, and adapted to each student’s learning style and goals.
