About Oluwamurewa

With over 11 years at the piano and a background spanning five instruments — piano, drums, saxophone, violin, and trumpet — I bring a genuinely well-rounded musical understanding to every lesson.

I hold an ABRSM Grade 8 in Piano, passed with Distinction in December 2024, alongside a London College of Music Theory Grade 5 (Merit) and formal qualifications through GCSE (Grade 7) and A-Level Music (Grade A). My training is classical at its core, but my passion lives in gospel, jazz, and romantic repertoire — and that breadth shapes how I teach.

Competitively, I've placed 1st consecutively for three years in the MUSON Annual Schools Competition Senior Category in Nigeria, and placed 10th internationally in the Vienna Annual Piano Competition — experience that gives me genuine insight into what performance preparation and exam success actually require.

Today I play regularly at church, recreationally, and in ongoing pursuit of mastery. I tutor because piano is the most foundational instrument you can learn, and I want every student to reach the point where they're not just playing notes — they're fully expressing themselves.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to your individual goals, experience, and pace. Whether you're a complete beginner, preparing for an ABRSM exam, or looking to play gospel and contemporary music, I'll help you build a solid foundation in technique, rhythm, and expression — while keeping every session enjoyable and motivating.

Lessons typically include:

Technique development — scales, arpeggios, posture, and hand control
Sight-reading and ear training
Repertoire building — classical, contemporary, gospel, and jazz
Music theory and understanding musical structure
Performance skills, exam preparation, and confidence building
Improvisation and musicianship for those who want to go further

I take a patient, structured, and encouraging approach. I teach children, teens, and adults, and I adapt my style to suit each learner's personality — whether you're playing for fun, for worship, or chasing top ABRSM grades.

Each lesson is tailored to your goals, ability, and pace, ensuring focused and enjoyable progress at every stage — whether we’re working in-person or online.

Availability
I'm available most weekday evenings and can discuss weekend slots depending on commitments. Lesson times are arranged individually upon booking — I'll always aim to find something that works around your schedule.

First lessons are offered free for 30 minutes so we can meet, assess where you are, and make sure we're a good fit before you commit to anything.
