About Cristina
I'm a friendly, bubbly and approachable person who understands how stressful GCSE exams can be. Having completed my own GCSE exams a few years ago, I know the pressure students can feel, and I want my lessons to be a relaxed, supportive environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and making mistakes without fear of being judged.
I love having discussions and debates about literature, and I encourage students to develop their own interpretations rather than making them feel like there is only one "correct" answer.
Having previously helped my fellow classmates improve their essays I understand how valuable it is to have someone explain things from a student's perspective and how important and valuable it can be to learn in a friendly atmosphere.
Although I enjoy having fun conversations and debates during lessons, I am also professional and focused. When it's time to work it's time to work! I believe there should be no pressure to be perfect, but there should always be a goal to improve, even if it is just a little after every session.
I am confident in my knowledge of the subject, reflected by my Grade 9 in GCSE English Literature, and I am committed to helping students recognise their own potential. I will always be patient, encouraging and respectful, and I would never discourage, belittle or be rude to a student.
My goal is to create a friendly environment where students can build both their skills and their confidence.

My lessons are designed to make GCSE English Literature enjoyable and achievable, whether you are aiming to improve your confidence or push towards the highest grades by helping to improve students' exam technique and written responses.
We will explore texts such as Macbeth, Animal Farm and A Christmas Carol through engaging discussions, theories and different interpretations.
Rather than simply memorising quotes, we will take deep dives into symbolism, language, structure and historical context, exploring how and why writers make particular choices. We can also discover and develop interpretations together - because in English Literature, there is rarely just one "correct" answer which is why my classes will include interesting and fun debates aiming to get my students to gain a genuine interest and passion for the subject rather than simply memorising the novels.
I place particular focus on understanding exactly what is required for the top grade bands. I will break down essay structure, analysis and evaluation step-by-step, using example essays from my own GCSE work that achieved a Grade 9 to demonstrate what high-level responses look like.
Lessons are personalised to your goals and current ability with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, discuss ideas and practise applying them to exam-style questions.
Having supported classmates with their English Literature and having had my own essays be used as examples to teach the class by my teachers I have seen how the right structure can make a significant difference to a student's confidence and grades.
My overall aim is not just to help you memorise content, but to teach you to think like a top-grade English Literature Student and confidently help you to develop and create your own interpretations of the studied texts.
