As an experienced ESL teacher with 7 years of experience teaching learners from children to adults and professionals, I use a student-centered and practical approach. I adjust my lessons according to each learner’s English level, goals, interests, and learning pace. I have taught students from different nationalities, including Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, Vietnamese, and Japanese learners.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
My teaching style combines:
Communicative learning – encouraging students to use English naturally through conversations and real-life situations.
Interactive activities – role-playing, discussions, question-and-answer exercises, and guided conversations.
Level-appropriate instruction – adjusting vocabulary, grammar, speaking activities, and materials according to the student's proficiency.
Practical application – connecting lessons to situations students may encounter at school, work, travel, or everyday life.
Personalized feedback – identifying areas for improvement and providing clear corrections and suggestions.
Exam-focused preparation – providing structured lessons for TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, and OPIC when students are preparing for English proficiency examinations.
A Typical Lesson Plan
1. Warm-up – 5 minutes
A short conversation or review activity to get the student comfortable using English.
2. Review – 5–10 minutes
Review previous vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, or assigned exercises.
3. Main Lesson – 20–25 minutes
Introduce the day's topic and teach the target language through examples and guided practice.
4. Interactive Practice – 10–15 minutes
Use conversation, role-play, reading, speaking, or other activities that allow the student to apply what they learned.
5. Feedback & Correction – 5 minutes
Discuss strengths, correct important errors, and provide practical recommendations.
6. Wrap-up – 5 minutes
Review key points and establish a small practice task or learning goal for the next lesson.
