About Laura

I am a friendly, patient and supportive tutor who is passionate about helping students build their confidence and achieve their academic goals. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s individual needs, strengths and learning pace.

I have completed a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting, at the University of Tasmania and have experience tutoring subjects including high school mathematics, introductory chemistry, statistics and bridging mathematics. My university studies have also given me a strong foundation in accounting, business, mathematics and analytical problem-solving.

My approach to tutoring is focused on understanding rather than simply memorizing answers. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps, use practical examples and encourage students to ask questions in a supportive environment. I want students to leave each lesson feeling more confident and capable of approaching problems independently.

I am organized, reliable and committed to preparing lessons that are relevant to each student. Whether you are trying to understand a difficult topic, prepare for an assessment or exam, improve your grades, or simply become more confident in a subject, I will work with you to develop an approach that suits your goals.

Most importantly, I aim to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and learning at their own pace.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is supportive, patient and tailored to each student’s individual learning style. I understand that students learn in different ways, so I adapt my teaching methods depending on their confidence, ability and goals. I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

My teaching techniques include breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps, using worked examples, guided practice, real-world applications and practice questions. Rather than simply giving students the answer, I encourage them to understand the reasoning behind each step so they can develop their problem-solving skills and become more independent learners.

A typical lesson is around 60 minutes, although I can adjust the length depending on the student’s needs. Lessons usually involve reviewing previous material, explaining new concepts, working through examples together and giving the student an opportunity to attempt questions independently with my support.

I have completed a Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting at the University of Tasmania and have experience tutoring subjects including high school mathematics, Year 10 Maths Extended, introductory chemistry, data handling and statistics, and bridging mathematics. My university studies have also given me strong skills in accounting, business, mathematics and analytical problem-solving.

My lessons are suitable for high school students, university students and adult learners, particularly students who would benefit from patient, structured and encouraging support. I am especially passionate about helping students who may lack confidence or need concepts explained in a different way.
