About Janice
About Me
Hello! I’m Janice, an experienced and passionate educator and Special Education teacher with almost a decade of teaching experience. I have a background in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education, and I have experience teaching both young learners and college students.
I believe that every learner is capable of learning and growing when given the right guidance, encouragement, and learning environment. As a tutor, I strive to create a safe, patient, and engaging space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing confidence in their abilities.
My teaching approach is student-centered, flexible, and individualized. I adjust my lessons according to each learner’s needs, interests, level, and learning pace. I use interactive discussions, practical examples, visual materials, guided practice, and positive reinforcement to make lessons easier to understand and enjoyable.
With my experience in Special Education and inclusive learning, I am particularly comfortable supporting students with different learning needs and abilities. I am patient and compassionate, and I understand the importance of celebrating small achievements while helping learners work toward bigger goals.

I am Janice, an experienced educator and Special Education teacher who believes that every learner has unique strengths, needs, interests, and learning styles. My tutoring approach is learner-centered, interactive, patient, and supportive.
I use a combination of direct instruction, guided practice, questioning, discussion, demonstrations, real-life examples, and hands-on activities to make lessons meaningful and engaging. I also use differentiated instruction by adjusting my teaching strategies, materials, pacing, and activities according to the learner’s abilities and level of understanding.
For learners who need additional support, I provide clear instructions, repetition, visual aids, scaffolding, positive reinforcement, and step-by-step guidance. My goal is not simply to give answers but to help students understand concepts, develop confidence, think critically, and become independent learners.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical tutoring session is structured but flexible depending on the learner’s needs:
1. Warm-Up and Review
I begin with a short conversation, review, or activity to connect the previous lesson to the new topic.
2. Lesson Introduction
I introduce the topic using simple explanations, examples, questions, visuals, or real-life situations.
3. Guided Learning
We work through examples together. I ask questions and provide guidance while checking the learner’s understanding.
4. Practice Activity
The learner applies what they have learned through exercises, discussions, problem-solving, reading activities, writing tasks, or other appropriate activities.
5. Feedback and Reinforcement
I provide constructive feedback, clarify misconceptions, and recognize the learner’s progress and effort.
6. Wrap-Up and Assessment
We summarize the key points and conduct a short assessment or reflection to determine what the learner has understood.
7. Learning Goal for the Next Session
I identify areas that need further practice and prepare the learner for the next lesson.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my combination of teaching experience and Special Education expertise. I understand that students do not all learn in the same way or at the same pace.
As an educator with extensive classroom experience, I have worked with learners with different abilities, including students who need additional support with attention, communication, literacy, behavior, social skills, and academic learning.
I am patient, encouraging, and adaptable. I create a learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I believe that mistakes are part of learning, and I make every effort to help learners recognize their progress and build confidence.
Most importantly, I teach with empathy and purpose. I do not only focus on academic performance; I also help learners develop confidence, independence, critical thinking, and a positive attitude toward learning.
