About Jason
My education in the arts began in Europe at the Academy of Fine Art in the early 1990s, where I lived as a student in Germany for four years. There I learned traditional methodologies in Drawing, from an intermediate to advanced level of competency. I returned to the United States to serve my country in the Special Forces as a submarine Quartermaster (Navigator). With my honorable discharge and the Navy College Fund in hand, I returned to Texas to continue my college education and pursue a career as a visual artist. While in graduate school, I was encouraged to explore an interdisciplinary approach to mixed-media installation art, and actively began making and exhibiting art before completing my master's in 2006.

The recipient of numerous academic awards, scholarships, mentorships, and internships, I have received 10 years of formal art education and training from respected universities and accomplished art professionals from around the world, beginning at the European Academy, and ending with a Master's in Fine Art from TCU. I have 19 years experience as an Art Department Chair, Division Director of Design, and Professor of Art, with as many years experience as a practicing visual artist with gallery representation and artworks in museum, gallery, and private collections. I have created, from the ground up, an accredited Undergraduate Foundations Art Program for a college in Dallas, TX, which required authoring/writing, revising, and teaching 10 different accredited college art courses. I teach with sincere passion for the arts, with the goal of empowering and preparing students with the creative skills and confidence needed to help them succeed in their own creative ambitions.
