About Jason

Hello, I’m Jason Kolmer, a dedicated and passionate educator with over a decade of experience in teaching Mathematics and Computing. As a graduate of the University of Brighton, I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have worked in a variety of educational settings, including mainstream schools and specialist environments supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and Special Educational Needs (SEN). My teaching philosophy revolves around developing confidence and a love for learning. I believe that every student is capable of achieving success when provided with the right support and encouragement. My goal is to empower my students to overcome challenges, embrace curiosity, and reach their full potential. In addition to my extensive teaching experience, I bring a personalised and empathetic approach to my lessons. I understand that each student learns differently, and I tailor my methods to suit their unique needs and aspirations. Whether it’s preparing for exams, mastering difficult concepts, or gaining a deeper understanding of a subject, I am committed to guiding my students every step of the way. About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Techniques and Teaching Methodology My teaching approach is centred around the individual needs, strengths, and learning styles of each student. I use a combination of interactive methods, including problem-solving activities, real-world applications, and technology-based tools to make Mathematics and Computing both accessible and engaging. For students with specific needs, such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), ADHD, or SEN (Special Educational Needs), I adapt my strategies to ensure lessons are inclusive and supportive. This includes using structured routines, visual aids, and practical activities to create a comfortable and stimulating learning environment. My aim is not only to teach subject content but also to build self-confidence, resilience, and a genuine passion for learning in every student. Typical Length of a Lesson A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, providing enough time to cover key concepts, practise problems, and address any challenges. However, I can offer flexibility to suit the student’s needs, such as shorter sessions for younger learners or extended lessons for more in-depth support. Qualifications and Experience as a Tutor I am a graduate of the University of Brighton, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and I have over a decade of experience as an educator. My teaching experience spans a range of educational settings, including mainstream schools and specialist environments catering to students with ASC, ADHD, and other SEN. Who the Lessons Are For My lessons are suitable for students of varying ages and abilities, from primary school through to GCSE level and beyond. I specialise in Mathematics and Computing, supporting learners whether they require foundational help, exam preparation, or advanced challenges. I also have extensive experience working with students who face additional barriers to learning, offering a patient, understanding, and tailored approach to ensure everyone can succeed.
