About Macy
I am a PhD student in Hispanic Linguistics at Indiana University with an MA in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Iowa. My BA is in International Studies and Spanish. I have experience teaching Spanish at varying levels at the University of Iowa and my degrees have taught me a lot about the theories surrounding language acquisition and languages themselves.

As someone who studies linguistics and speaks English and Spanish, this makes me uniquely qualified to teach English as a second language. As part of my MA, a good portion was to learn specifically how second languages are acquired. Additionally, speaking Spanish and learning Portuguese gives me perspective on how difficult the learning process can be, especially when learning as an adult.
In my lessons, I do my best to bring in real world examples activities while structuring it to the student´s goals.
