About Mariah
Hello! My name is Mrs. Mariah. I have been a teacher for three years and I just had my first child in September. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my child and my husband, being outdoors, or snuggled on the couch with a good book! I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a degree in Elementary Education. I love working with students and seeing their eyes light up when they figure out something difficult! I have a passion for making lessons fun and engaging. I believe that learning is fun and it is something that never ends, no matter how old you are.

I teach in a way that helps young learners feel confident, supported, and excited about learning. My techniques include: Breaking skills into small steps so nothing feels overwhelming Using visuals, real examples, and hands-on activities Asking guiding questions to help students think for themselves Encouragement and positive feedback Making learning fun with games, movement, and creative activities I believe every child learns differently, so I adjust my teaching style to fit what helps that student succeed. Each session has a clear, simple structure: Warm-Up (3–5 min) A quick review or short activity to get the brain ready. Learning Goal (1–2 min) We choose one main thing to focus on—like reading a passage, practicing math facts, or writing a paragraph. Teacher Model (5–10 min) I show the skill in action, explaining it in kid-friendly language. Guided Practice (10–15 min) We work through problems or activities together, with me coaching and giving support. Independent Practice (5–10 min) The student tries it on their own while I watch for understanding. Wrap-Up (2–3 min) We celebrate what they learned and plan what to work on next time. Lessons stay upbeat, structured, and at the right pace for the child. What Makes Me Different I explain things in simple, clear ways that young learners understand. I use fun, creative activities to keep the kids engaged. I focus on real understanding, not memorizing or rushing through worksheets. I build strong relationships, helping students feel safe, supported, and proud of their progress. Parents appreciate that I communicate clearly and adjust lessons based on how their child learns best.
