About Suraj
My name is Suraj Singh and I am qualified as a teacher at secondary school level for mathematics. I have experience in a variety of sectors and teach from 11+ level onwards. I have had exposure to curriculum planning, marking and moderation. This means I cater my teaching approach to attain results. I also have experience with students going from primary school to secondary. I therefore know the expectations schools will have of them in their 11+ tests and teach students so they pass their exams and are competent enough to settle into secondary school well.

I typically tutor for 1 hour at a time. My approach is friendly with a focus on a science based approach. I follow a three step approach based on Rosenshine's principles of instruction with focus on repeated practice and scaffolding. I have experience with a range of students from SENDCo Primary Students to high attaining A Level students and adapt my approach as necessary. Each and every student is different, so we’ll have an ongoing discussion about what your child particularly needs to focus on — that way they can most effectively target their efforts for maximum results. I firmly believe that education is about drawing out a student’s own capabilities and raising their confidence in themselves (rather than somehow depositing ready-made ‘knowledge’ into their mind).
