About Thomas

I am a Politics and International Relations graduate with a long-held interest in current affairs and history. Although originally from the Midlands, time spent living in India as a child certainly played a role in expanding my curiosity of other nations. I love to travel, and so far have 25 countries under my belt. Few things in life are free, and securing an income is naturally a major part of anyone’s life. But! I work best when I work with what interests me most. That just happens to be politics and history. My main motivation for being a tutor is to use that passion to help others of a similar disposition. If I am lucky, it’ll also help keep the hot water running, and ensure a steady supply of Jaffa cakes to sustain me.

About the lesson

My approach places each student at the centre of the conversation. Everyone’s unique, so each session is tailored to capitalise on your personal strengths and interests. Seemingly complex or dull concepts can be made more engaging, more easily understood, when we frame it within the context of what fascinates you most. Politics is a deeply interconnected subject. Weaving these strands together also provides a deeper and more nuanced understanding of today’s big issues. From my own experiences with ADHD I know the value of flexible and catered learning strategies. I am committed to creating a patient and understanding learning environment to suit your needs. Whether you learn best through visual aids, interactive discussions or practical examples, I will adapt my approach to ensure you can grasp the material to the best of your ability. Ultimately, my aim is to help students develop into informed and confident learners. I’ll teach you to improve your critical thinking skills, your approach to essays, and help you reach your goals, whatever they may be. Whichever side of the fence you lean towards, whether you lean towards anything at all, is of no interest to me. If you’re happy to learn, I am more than happy to teach.
