About Joy
Hello! My name is Patrick Joy, and I’m a passionate English tutor with a degree from the University of Port Harcourt. I specialise in teaching children aged 8 to 11 (Key Stage 2), helping them build a strong foundation in English through engaging, personalised online lessons. Teaching is more than a job for me – it’s something I truly enjoy. I believe every child learns differently, so I take the time to understand each student’s needs and learning style. My Approach to Tutoring I create a supportive and engaging learning environment where children feel confident and motivated to improve their English skills. My lessons are tailored to each child’s pace and learning style, with a strong focus on building their understanding of grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing. I use a variety of interactive techniques such as guided reading, games, storytelling, and practical exercises to keep students involved and focused. Each lesson includes a mix of explanation, examples, student practice, and gentle correction to ensure understanding. Lesson Format & Duration Lessons typically last 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the child’s attention span and learning goals. I keep the sessions interactive and break them into smaller activities to maintain interest and energy throughout. Qualifications & Experience I am a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt, with teaching experience and a strong background in English instruction for children aged 8 to 11. I have worked with students of different levels, helping them build confidence in both spoken and written English. Who My Lessons Are For My English lessons are ideal for children in Key Stage 2 (typically ages 8 to 11), whether they need extra support, want to improve their general skills, or are preparing for exams.
