About Karina
Hello! My name is Karina Yang and I just graduated the University of Southern California (USC) with a B.S. in Computer Science, as well as a minor in Dance. At USC, I was a teaching assistant for introductory and advanced Computer Science courses for 3+ years. I have also tutored high school students to help them achieve near perfect scores on ACT/SAT exams, as well as high scores on AP Computer Science A, Physics 1/C, and Calculus. In my free time, I love oil painting, cooking, and going on rollercoasters!

Hi! I am all about inspiring students to fall in love with learning and strive for excellence in everything they set their mind to. In my tutoring sessions, I focus more on training students to think critically by asking the right questions, as opposed to getting straight to the solution. They are then able to develop robust and adaptable skillsets, accelerating their learning in a multitude of areas.
My lessons are always tailored to students' needs. They will always encompass guided hands-on problem solving, with an optional short lecture depending on the students' understanding of the material. As a tutor for intro and advanced Computer Science courses at the University of Southern California (Programming in Python/C++/Java, Algorithms Design and Analysis, Machine Learning), my past students have significantly boosted exam scores by over 2 letter grades, and published machine learning research in top conferences. My lessons are catered towards high school and college students, in subjects related to Computer Science, though I also look forward to tutoring middle school students as well.
