About Mady

I love teaching and working with students! I remember going through high school, looking at colleges, figuring out life beyond college, etc. and I understand the stresses that can come with wanting to achieve desired results. I love mentoring students on the process and I am very driven to make sure students feel like they're tutoring experience is catered especially to them and their wants and strengths/weaknesses.

I have over a year of tutoring experience and many years of mentorship experience. I have received nothing but positive feedback from the students I've worked with - both about their academic improvement as well as their overall experience working with me and genuinely enjoying their sessions. My approach to tutoring is fun and engaging and individualized to each student; I spend a lot of time understanding the right path to success given each students' goals and starting points and my goal is for each student to end their time with me feeling positive and hopeful about their path forward.

About the lesson

I am very 1x1 when tutoring students; I learn each students' strengths and weaknesses and cater study materials to each individual's circumstance. In general, I categorize concepts based on 2 themes: 1) critical thinking/problem solving skills and understanding the material from a high level and 2) identifying material that requires memorization in order to succeed on test questions, such as math formulas or grammar rules.

I usually start by asking a student what areas they are wanting or needing to focus on. I also request to see some previous graded work so I can get an idea of what they're being tested on and how they currently perform. My lessons are usually an even split of teaching, working through problems together, and timing the student to solve problems on their own which we then go over and talk about together.

I primarily tutor students for ACT/SAT prep, however I am also equipped to help students of all grades in their school's math courses.

I consider myself a very relational person and this carries over into my work as a tutor. I love encouraging students and making them feel comfortable, as I believe that them feeling confident and excited to learn provides the strongest foundation for digesting the material.
