About James
I have been playing trumpet for nearly 20 years, first learning from my Dad. Going through primary and secondary school, I successfully performed in competitions, was a member of community music groups, and involved with the local war commemoration events as a bugler.
I graduated from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music, and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) degree in trumpet performance. During my university years in Melbourne, I performed in the Melbourne Youth Orchestra, and Australian Youth Orchestra. This year I am starting a Masters course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

In my trumpet lessons, I place a heavy emphasis on learning correct technique for the betterment of the student's playing potential. Such aspects of technique that will be covered are - breathing, good use of air, and articulation. Equally as important as technique is musicality, and I work on playing musically in lessons also.
I have been teaching since 2017, working at music camps, in music studios, and with private students. I offer lessons to students of any age, having previously taught adult students as well as kids. Lesson lengths can be 30, 45, or 60 mins.
