About Alyssa
I'm a 35-year-old veteran educator with a dog named Kevin and a passion for history. I became a teacher because I wanted to talk about history but teaching became my career because I learned, to my surprise, that I loved to connect with students and help them to gain confidence in their own abilities while also pushing them to be the best versions of themselves, both inside and outside the classroom.

I am a veteran educator who has taught World History in a large public school district for 10 years. During the past decade, I have taught courses ranging from remediation to Advanced Placement, to students of all manner of cultural backgrounds and socio-economic statuses, as well as ELL students and differently-abled students. iT is because of my experience that I truly believe all students have the capacity to learn and grow. As a private tutor, my goal is to address your individual learning needs and preferences to help you not only expand your knowledge but build on your own individual strengths as a learner. My lessons can range between 10-60 minutes depending on your needs and are targeted toward young adult and adult learners. My expertise is in teaching History, but I also have experience tutoring in reading, essay composition and thesis construction, basic arithmetic, algebra, and test prep (AP exams, SAT, ACT, state exams, etc.).
