Teaching Method and Techniques
My teaching approach is student-centered, flexible, and focused on building understanding rather than memorization. I begin by identifying the student’s current level and learning style, then adapt my instruction to meet their needs. I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and questioning strategies to help students actively engage with the material. I also incorporate real-world examples and checks for understanding throughout the lesson to ensure concepts are truly being grasped. Classroom experience as a substitute teacher has strengthened my ability to manage different learning environments and adjust instruction on the spot when needed.
Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up or review of previous material to activate prior knowledge. Next, I introduce the day’s objective in a clear and simple way so students understand what they are learning and why it matters. I then model the concept step-by-step, followed by guided practice where we work through examples together. After that, students complete independent practice while I circulate and provide support. I end each lesson with a quick check for understanding or summary activity to reinforce learning and identify any areas that need more attention.

What sets me apart is my classroom experience and ability to connect with a wide range of students. As a substitute teacher and AVID tutor, I’ve worked with students across different grade levels and learning abilities. I understand how to break down complex concepts into manageable steps and create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I am patient, adaptable, and focused on helping students build confidence along with academic skills. I also prioritize building positive relationships, which helps students stay engaged and motivated.
