About Faith
I’m a Purdue graduate with a degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, a minor in Psychology, and years of teaching experience with students from preschool to adulthood. I combine academic expertise with patience, compassion, and clear communication to help students master their subjects and build confidence. As a tutor, I believe learning should feel both engaging and empowering. I approach each session with patience, compassion, and a focus on understanding rather than memorization. My goal is to help students not only master the material, but also develop the confidence to apply their knowledge independently. I encourage questions, foster curiosity, and correct mistakes in a way that guides students to discover the answer themselves, making the learning process active and memorable.
Teaching Methods and Techniques:
I use a combination of guided discussion, practical exercises, and interactive activities to meet each student’s needs. For literature and English subjects, I help students explore deeper meanings, themes, and connections within texts while also strengthening their writing skills. I incorporate practice workbooks, targeted reading assignments, and creative writing prompts to reinforce lessons. In addition to academic tutoring, I also help students with professional resume development and provide mock interview practice to prepare them for real-world opportunities. My methods are adaptable—whether a student thrives with visual aids, hands-on activities, or structured note-taking, I adjust to their learning style.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-up (5–10 minutes) – Quick review of the previous lesson or a short exercise to activate prior knowledge.
Core Instruction (20–30 minutes) – Focused teaching on the day’s topic using examples, readings, and guided analysis.
Practice and Application (20 minutes) – Students engage with workbooks, writing exercises, literary discussion, or career prep activities.
Review and Reflection (5–10 minutes) – Summarize key takeaways and set a small goal or practice task for the next session.

My background combines academic expertise with a deep understanding of human development and psychology, allowing me to tailor lessons to each student’s cognitive and emotional needs. Having taught students from age 3 to adulthood, I bring adaptability, empathy, and strong communication skills to every session.
