Hello! My name is Tara, and I am thrilled to be your Mandarin Chinese tutor. I graduated from the University of St Andrews with a degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). My native language is Mandarin Chinese, and I have been teaching it for the past seven years.

I am a dedicated and passionate language educator with a strong academic background and a deep love for teaching. My journey in education began with a desire to bridge cultural gaps and help others connect through language. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners, each bringing their unique perspectives and goals.

Teaching Mandarin Chinese is not just a job for me; it is a calling. I am passionate about helping students discover the beauty and richness of the Chinese language and culture. I believe that language learning is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, and I am committed to making this journey as enjoyable and rewarding as possible for my students.

Seeing my students progress and achieve their language goals is incredibly fulfilling. Whether you are learning Mandarin for travel, business, academic purposes, or simply out of interest, I am here to support you every step of the way. My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching:

Techniques and Teaching Methodology:
I employ a student-centered approach to teaching Mandarin Chinese, leveraging my expertise in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) to enhance language instruction. My techniques include:

Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): Emphasizing real-life communication and interaction to build practical language skills.
Task-Based Learning (TBL): Using tasks and projects to facilitate learning in context and promote active use of the language.
Multimedia Resources: Incorporating audio-visual materials, online tools, and authentic resources like news articles, videos, and songs to make learning more dynamic and enjoyable.
Cultural Immersion: Integrating cultural elements into lessons to provide a deeper understanding of the language context and foster a more holistic learning experience.
Typical Length of a Lesson:
Each lesson typically lasts 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the student's needs and preferences. This duration allows sufficient time to cover new material, practice speaking and listening skills, and review previous lessons without overwhelming the student.

Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:
I hold a degree in TESOL from the University of St Andrews. With seven years of experience teaching Mandarin Chinese, I have worked with students of various ages and proficiency levels, from beginners to advanced learners. My experience includes:

Teaching in classroom settings and private tutoring.
Designing tailored lesson plans to meet individual student needs.

Continuously updating my teaching methods to incorporate the latest educational research and technology.
Who Are My Lessons For:
My lessons are suitable for:

Levels: All proficiency levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners.
Ages: Children, teenagers, and adults.
Goals: Students looking to improve their conversational skills, prepare for exams, enhance their business Chinese, or learn about Chinese culture.
