About Andrew
I am a chill 31-year-old who recently moved back to California after completing my PhD at Duke University. Before that, I graduated from UCLA with my M.S. in Chemical Engineering and CU Boulder with my B.S. also in Chemical Engineering. I have completed several difficult courses such as bioconjugation and abstract mathematical modeling. My PhD research investigated the use of serum protein, Inter-alpha Inhibitor (IaI), as an anti-inflammatory agent in reversing the healing of perpetually inflamed diabetic ulcers. Side projects included local DNA nanoparticle delivery via hydrogel and novel wound splint designs for murine wound healing experiments. I know how frustrating it is to be stuck on a subject but I am sure we can work through it together. I like video games, pets, ultimate frisbee, and cooking!

Struggling with science/math can be challenging as they can often be abstract ideas that are difficult to relate to. I try to break down the topic you are having issues with into smaller and smaller parts to build your understanding from the ground up rather than simply saying "that's just how it works". This is what has worked for me and I am sure it will work for you - plus it tends to make me want to dive deeper into the subject rather than shy away from it. Depending on your situation, we may have a one-off, tailored session that tackles a specific problem you are having. Or if a class in general is difficult for you, we will follow along with your class and talk through what is confusing you each week by going through the assignments or extra problems. I am comfortable with grades 6-12 and can cover most (if not all) science and math subjects.
