About Alicia

My name is Alicia but I go by Ms. Lela. I am a senior at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs where I am working hard to become a certified Inclusive Elementary school teacher in the state of Colorado. I have been in education since 2012 and have worked with students of every grade level from Pre-K to college students. I have a 3.9 GPA and know what it takes to do well in school. My passion is teaching. Currently, I am a substitute teacher for K-8 grade but have taught at full capacity Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th grades. I have tutored students many times over the years privately and nearly all have improved in the classroom but also on their state and standardized tests as well. I have had tremendous success with the students I have tutored and had fun while doing it.

About the lesson

Mathematics takes time to learn. I take my lessons step by step with the assistance of manipulative's for visual learners. I offer multiple strategies for mastering each part of the lesson and provide additional problems for consistent practice. Math is about repetition and patience. This is what we will work on and we will turn math into a better experience together.
