About Kevin
I am a student who passed their Y6 SAT’s with full marks and have prior, formal teaching experience of 20 hours +. I have achieved a gold certificate three times in the JMC UKMT and have achieved Merit in two of the flow on rounds of the competition. I have completed the Newcastle University Outreach Maths Challenge in Y7 and Y8. I have been is set 1 in my school for three years running . I attain very good grades and a I am mature and responsible and professional. I also have informal teaching experience from helping my younger siblings. I think my smaller age gap to my students can help me relate to them and helps them feel less under pressure. I am kind and supportive and will relentlessly preservers to make my student becomes a master on the subject I teach them.

My approach to learning is formed to optimise my student’s learning. I form a lesson structure for every lesson and make PowerPoint slides designed to visually and mentally engage my students. I will start by first talking about the basics of what we are going to learn and why it is important to learn it. Then later on in the next slides, I will head in depth about the work and help them understand it. I will also ensure that I provide plenty of opportunities for my student to tell me if they are struggling to understand the work. After I have done this, then I will make sure to use the technique called “I do, we do, you do”. This will be applied to many different types of questions. I aim to make my lessons fun and engaging. I do practice questions a lot as it is a great method to learning the work material and understand it fully.
