About Nate

I'm an active performer, composer, and educator in Los Angeles. In the last decade I've recorded over a dozen albums - eight are Grammy-nominated and two are Grammy-winning.

I hold a B.A. in Music Composition from Yale University, a Masters in Conducting from Rutgers, and a Masters in Screen Scoring from USC. I've taught hundreds of students in classroom, private, and masterclass settings, and take great pride in tailoring my pedagogy to each student.

I teach a range of students, from working actors in Los Angeles to rock musicians that play for crowds of thousands. I also teach tech executives looking to strengthen their voice for presentation, and beginners who want hyper-tailored instruction.

I currently work in studio recording in LA, sing with the Los Angeles Master Chorale, conduct choral and chamber ensembles, and write music for movies and TV.

About the lesson

I bring an uncommon combination of traditional training and real-world experience. I studied classical vocal performance and pedagogy but I bring insights from musical theater, jazz, pop, and more. I've spent my adult career identifying the core techniques that great vocalists across genres use.

My composition work is similarly diverse, ranging from choral to chamber to film. I train composers to develop their individual voice and then learn to speak clearly, allowing them to reach the audience they're after.
