About Brian

My name is Brian Okumu, and I am a student pursued a Bachelor of Education in Biology and Chemistry. I am a teacher who stands in front of a classroom, but a teacher who understands, guides, motivates, and inspires learners.

You may ask yourselves, “Why did he choose to become a teacher?”

I chose teaching because I believe education has the power to change a person's life. A good teacher can make a learner believe in themselves, discover their abilities, and see possibilities that they never thought existed.

I also chose Biology and Chemistry because I am fascinated by how the world works. Biology helps us understand life and living organisms, while Chemistry helps us understand the substances and processes that surround us every day. I want to make these subjects understandable, practical, and interesting rather than subjects that you simply memorize for examinations.

As your teacher, I will not expect you to be perfect. I will expect you to be willing to learn. Some of you may be very confident, while others may be afraid of answering questions. Some may find Biology easy and Chemistry difficult, or the opposite. That is completely okay.

I want my classroom to be a place where you can ask questions, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and grow.

I am also here because I want to make a difference in the lives of young people. Perhaps one day, one of you will become a doctor, pharmacist, scientist, teacher, engineer, researcher, or even another great teacher. If I can play a small part in helping you reach that destination, then I will consider my work meaningful.

So, when you see me standing before you, don't only see a teacher. See someone who is also learning, growing, and committed to helping you discover your own potential.

I am here to teach you Biology and Chemistry, but more importantly, I am here to help you believe that you can become something great.

MY MESSAGE TO MY FUTURE STUDENTS

Dear students,

I want you to know that I will not only be your teacher; I will also be your guide, mentor, and supporter throughout your learning journey.

Biology and Chemistry may sometimes appear difficult, but I believe that no subject is impossible when you are willing to learn, ask questions, practise, and remain consistent. I will not expect you to know everything from the beginning. My responsibility will be to help you understand concepts step by step and create an environment where every student feels free to participate.

I want you to make mistakes without being afraid. A mistake is not failure—it is an opportunity to learn. Ask questions whenever you do not understand, participate in practical activities, work together with your classmates, and always be curious about how and why things happen.

My goal is not simply to help you pass examinations. I want you to develop knowledge and skills that you can use beyond the classroom. Biology helps us understand life, while Chemistry helps us understand the materials and processes that make up our world.

I will believe in your potential even when you doubt yourself. But I will also expect commitment, discipline, respect, honesty, and hard work from each of you.

Remember this: your background does not determine your destination; your decisions, effort, discipline, and determination can shape your future.

Let us work together, learn together, make mistakes together, improve together, and celebrate our achievements together.

I believe in you. I believe you can succeed. Now I want you to believe in yourself too.
