About Nahila

About Me
My name is Nahila Chowdhury. I studied Economics and Mathematics at university and am currently completing a Master’s in Economics, alongside working as a Senior Economist in government regulation. Mathematics has been central to my professional life and academic development for many years.
My interest in the subject began at home. My parents took care to teach me the fundamentals early, and that experience shaped how I think about learning. Once the basics are properly understood, more complex topics follow naturally. That belief sits at the core of how I tutor.
I began tutoring at sixteen, so working with students has been a consistent part of my life for a considerable time. I want to give students the stepping stones they need to reach their potential, and I find satisfaction in watching confidence grow over time. One moment that stays with me is receiving a thank you letter from a student who had exceeded their own expectations in their GCSEs. That is the kind of outcome I work towards with every student I take on.
I am calm and approachable by nature, and I adapt my approach to suit each individual. At the same time, I encourage students to push beyond what they think they are capable of. Tutoring, for me, is a way of giving back and of showing students that with the right foundations, mathematics is far more achievable than they may believe.

About the lesson

Maths has been a passion of mine since childhood. Over the years I have come to understand that success in the subject is built on confidence, and confidence comes from solid foundations. With GCSE students, I always begin by ensuring the fundamentals are genuinely secure, as gaps at the base level are frequently the reason more advanced topics become difficult to grasp.
In our sessions, I will guide you through problems step by step, explaining not just how to reach an answer but why each method works. Understanding the reasoning behind a technique is what makes it transferable to unfamiliar questions. Practice is equally essential, so I set tailored questions and mark homework personally, providing clear and specific feedback on where improvement is needed.
Whether you are looking to catch up, consolidate your knowledge, or stretch further, sessions are structured to meet you where you are and move you forward consistently.
