About Nova
I developed a love for guitar at a young age, which led me to pursue a B.Mus in Guitar Performance followed by an M.Mus in Contemporary Music Education. Over 9 years of teaching, I have worked with learners of all levels, emphasizing technical proficiency, musical expression, and performance confidence. My teaching philosophy prioritizes individualized guidance, patience, and encouragement to nurture each student’s unique abilities and musical identity.
Lessons are structured to integrate technique, repertoire, improvisation, and performance skills. I guide students to develop tone, phrasing, stylistic nuance, and expressive interpretation while cultivating creativity, independence, and self-confidence. I also incorporate ensemble work, improvisation, and composition exercises to foster versatility and a comprehensive understanding of music.
Outside teaching, I perform regularly, collaborate with musicians, and explore diverse musical styles to bring fresh perspectives and inspiration to lessons. These experiences help students understand practical applications of their skills and inspire creative growth. Witnessing learners evolve from hesitant beginners to confident, expressive guitarists is profoundly rewarding. My mission is to cultivate technically skilled, artistically expressive, and confident musicians who develop a lifelong passion for guitar and music.

Guitar lessons thrive when technical mastery is paired with creativity, expression, and performance skill. I focus on chord progressions, scales, fingerstyle techniques, improvisation, phrasing, tone shaping, and stylistic interpretation to develop both precision and artistry. Each lesson blends structured exercises, repertoire practice, and creative exploration in a nurturing and encouraging environment where students feel empowered to experiment, make mistakes, and discover their personal musical voice.
Beginners concentrate on basic chords, hand positioning, strumming patterns, and simple melodic exercises to establish a strong foundation. Intermediate learners work on fingerstyle refinement, soloing, expressive phrasing, improvisation, chord embellishments, and ensemble playing. Advanced students focus on complex repertoire, improvisational fluency, composition, performance readiness, and stage presence. Every lesson incorporates reflective exercises, constructive feedback, and individualized guidance to ensure steady progress and long-term development.
Learning guitar fosters creativity, confidence, and expressive skill. Students not only gain technical competence but also develop emotional connection to music, interpretive ability, and performance poise. Many learners explore diverse genres, perform in ensembles, compose, or improvise, building versatility and musical independence. My goal is to help students achieve technical mastery, expressive freedom, and the confidence to perform and create music that resonates with themselves and others.
