About Rayna
I am a guitar tutor with 8 years of experience and a background in B.Mus Guitar Performance and M.Mus in Contemporary Music Studies. I have guided learners of all levels, from beginners mastering chords and basic technique to advanced performers preparing for recitals, recordings, and ensemble collaborations. My teaching philosophy emphasizes a balance of technical mastery and expressive development, ensuring students grow musically and creatively. I tailor lessons to individual goals, abilities, and interests, fostering engagement, curiosity, and confidence in musical performance.
I focus on helping students develop technique, musicality, improvisation skills, and performance readiness. Lessons include targeted exercises, repertoire practice, stylistic exploration, and personalized feedback to ensure steady progress. I encourage creativity, experimentation, and emotional connection to music, supporting each student in finding their unique voice on the guitar.
Outside teaching, I actively perform, compose, and explore new music genres, which enriches my lessons and allows me to offer contemporary, real-world insights. Watching students gain confidence, skill, and artistic expression brings me immense satisfaction. Supporting their musical growth and helping them connect deeply with the guitar remains the most rewarding part of my work.

Guitar lessons are designed to build technical proficiency while nurturing creative expression. I focus on developing strong foundational skills including finger positioning, chord transitions, strumming patterns, picking techniques, and tone production. Lessons incorporate repertoire practice, improvisation exercises, and music theory to foster a deeper understanding of musical structure and personal expression. I emphasize the importance of attentive listening, dynamics, phrasing, and musicality, helping learners connect emotionally with the music. Each session encourages active engagement, experimentation, and reflection, creating a balanced learning environment where technical skill and creative exploration progress hand in hand.
For intermediate and advanced learners, lessons explore advanced techniques such as soloing, vibrato, fingerstyle, hybrid picking, bending, and stylistic articulation across multiple genres including jazz, blues, rock, and classical. I provide guidance on developing solo phrasing, improvisation, musical storytelling, and stage presence. Personalized exercises target specific technical challenges while fostering expressive freedom. Lessons also prepare students for performances, recitals, and collaborations, focusing on confidence, accuracy, and self-expression. I use a variety of interactive methods, including call-and-response exercises, creative projects, and recording practices, to ensure learners experience both technical and artistic growth in a supportive environment.
Learning guitar enhances not only technical skill but also concentration, creativity, discipline, and emotional expression. Students gain confidence, develop problem-solving abilities, and cultivate artistic independence.
