About Troy
I hold a Bachelor’s in Music Performance and Guitar Pedagogy and have 12 years of experience teaching guitar to students of all ages and abilities. My lessons combine technical instruction, music theory, improvisation, and performance coaching, helping learners develop skill, artistry, and confidence. I have guided students from their first chord to advanced improvisation, repertoire performance, and creative composition. My approach is student-centered and adaptable, emphasizing engagement, motivation, and personal growth. I tailor lessons to each learner’s goals, skill level, and musical interests, integrating exercises, repertoire, improvisation, and performance techniques to build both technical proficiency and artistic expression. Constructive feedback and encouragement ensure steady, confident progress. Outside teaching, I actively perform, explore new musical styles, and study advanced techniques to enhance lessons. Watching students develop musical confidence, express themselves creatively, and achieve performance goals is deeply fulfilling. I am dedicated to helping learners find their musical voice, build strong skills, and enjoy a lifelong relationship with guitar.

My guitar lessons focus on developing technical skill, musical expression, and performance confidence. Lessons incorporate chord progressions, finger exercises, scales, sight-reading, rhythm, tone control, phrasing, and improvisation. I design lessons to be engaging, dynamic, and personalized, ensuring students of all levels feel challenged yet supported. Students explore various musical styles, develop their unique sound, and learn to apply theory in practical ways. Each session emphasizes technical mastery, musical understanding, and expressive creativity, building both skill and artistic confidence.
Beginners start with basic chords, simple strumming patterns, foundational scales, and easy songs to develop finger dexterity and timing. Intermediate learners work on complex chord progressions, melodic improvisation, music theory application, and performance techniques. Advanced learners refine technique, improvisation, composition, and expressive interpretation, preparing for recitals, auditions, or professional-level performance. Each lesson includes targeted exercises, constructive feedback, and encouragement to foster continuous growth.
Learning guitar enhances creativity, discipline, and musical understanding. Students gain technical mastery, musical fluency, and the ability to express themselves confidently through music. My goal is to provide a motivating, supportive environment where learners discover their artistic voice, refine their skills, and enjoy the transformative experience of making music.
