About Harjas

A little about my style:

I’ve been playing guitar for 9 years and have spent a lot of time exploring different sides of the instrument—from fingerstyle and classical repertoire to alternative, psychedelic and contemporary guitar.

My influences range from Folk and Indie, to Rock and Jazz.

I’m currently working toward my ARCT in Guitar through the Royal Conservatory of Music, and I enjoy combining formal musical training with practical skills that help you actually play the music you enjoy.

Rather than following the exact same curriculum with every student, I like to figure out what you want to be able to do on guitar and build lessons around that.

About the lesson

Guitar Lessons in the Greater Toronto Area

Whether you’ve just picked up a guitar or have been playing for a few years but feel stuck, I can help you build the skills to actually play music rather than simply memorizing chords and exercises.

What I offer:

Acoustic & Electric Guitar

- Chords and chord transitions
- Strumming and rhythm
- Fingerstyle technique
- Scales and fretboard knowledge
- Pentatonic and major/minor scales
- Improvisation
- Learning songs and guitar parts by ear
- Basic music theory
- Reading standard notation
- Alternate Tunings
- Developing your own guitar parts and musical ideas

Who are these lessons for?

Beginners: I'll help you develop good fundamentals without overwhelming you with theory.

Intermediate players: If you've been playing for a while but feel like you've hit a plateau, we can work on technique, theory, improvisation, repertoire and musicianship to get you moving again while keeping the instrument interesting.

Players interested in fingerstyle or classical guitar: I can help you develop right-hand technique, independence, reading and repertoire.

Songwriters: We can also use the guitar as a songwriting tool, exploring chord progressions, voicings, melodies and ways to create more interesting parts, as well as industry standard songwriting techniques.

Lessons

Lessons can be tailored to your goals and experience level, and can take place online or in person in the Greater Toronto Area.

$25/hour for introductory lessons - First Lesson Free!

Send me a message with your experience, the kind of music you like, and what you'd like to be able to play, and we can figure out a good starting point.

I'm looking forward to helping you become a more confident and musical guitarist!
