About Wendy
I’m a dedicated guitar tutor with 4 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in World Music, specialising in Guitar Traditions. My academic training gave me a wide perspective on music from different cultures, while my practical journey has taken me deep into metal, shred, and progressive rock. I understand how important it is to blend solid technique with creative expression. That’s why I focus on helping students master blistering speed, flawless precision, and advanced shred techniques. Whether it’s alternate picking, sweep arpeggios, or tapping, I break everything down into manageable steps. I enjoy working with both young learners and adult students. Each lesson is tailored to the individual, combining technical drills with songs that inspire. I encourage consistency in practice but also foster exploration of personal style. My approach balances discipline with enthusiasm so students stay motivated. I use exercises that target accuracy while building endurance and control. Together, we work towards not only faster playing but also cleaner, more musical performance. My background in world music also allows me to bring unique rhythmic and melodic ideas into lessons. I offer warm and interactive guitar lessons that are carefully designed to balance structure with artistry. My focus is on fingerstyle guitar, intricate arrangements, and classical pieces that bring out the expressive side of the instrument. Students learn advanced picking patterns, classical repertoire, and the art of reading sheet music. I also guide learners through arranging their favourite songs for solo guitar. My teaching style relies on visual aids, clear demonstrations, and the use of slow-practice methods. These tools make complex passages accessible and rewarding. I’ve worked with students who seek refined artistry and those starting later in life who want to make consistent progress. Both find my lessons supportive yet focused on clear goals. I break down technique into achievable steps without losing the joy of playing. Lessons always include careful feedback and encouragement to unlock personal growth. My aim is to show students how detail and creativity go hand in hand. Each session builds both confidence and expressive control. Together, we’ll uncover the beauty of fingerstyle guitar and transform your playing into something deeply personal.
