About Maren
With 9 years of experience, I specialize in teaching guitar to visually impaired and differently-abled students. I use tactile notation and audio cue training to create lessons that are accessible and engaging. Strong rhythmic development is a core focus, helping students feel the music deeply through touch and sound. I hold a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar, which equips me with the skills to design adaptive teaching methods. My passion lies in making music education inclusive for everyone, regardless of ability. I believe that music is a powerful tool for connection and self-expression. In my lessons, I create a supportive and empowering space where all learners can thrive. I adapt techniques and tools to meet individual needs, ensuring progress and confidence. Whether you’re just starting or looking to refine your skills, I’m here to guide you. My approach encourages independence and celebrates every achievement, big or small. My teaching approach focuses on building strong ear–hand coordination to help you play with accuracy and feel. I introduce alternate tunings to expand your creative possibilities and deepen your musical understanding. Songwriting is a key part of my lessons, encouraging you to express your unique voice through the guitar. I also guide students in using digital effects to enhance their sound and explore new textures.
I tailor lessons to fit different musical goals, whether you prefer classical precision or leading worship with heartfelt playing. I support students in developing solid technique while nurturing their personal style. Each lesson includes clear explanations and practical exercises designed to build confidence and fluency.
