About Tom
I am a veteran of both the Los Angeles and San Francisco music scenes. I've been playing for 54 years and teaching for the last 30. I won't make the claim that I know everything nor will I ever try to hold on to a student I can't help. I want you to succeed as a player and an artist even if I'm NOT the right teacher for you. I stress understanding what you're playing and how you play it over trying to be impressive. For me, seeing any student get better is part of the reward.

I tailor my lesson to the needs of each student. A beginner won't benefit from lessons that don't address the very basics like replacing strings, tuning, or proper placement of the fingers for basic chords. Likewise an intermediate player's time is wasted with very basic stuff. I can help with guidance on choice of equipment from amps to guitars to digital recording gear for your computer.
