About Ashley
Hi there, I'm Ashley!
My approach to teaching is grounded in both experience and results. I graduated from Columbia University (Summa Cum Laude) with a major in Political Science, where I also worked as a Writing Center fellow, coaching students to improve their academic writing and structure arguments effectively.
Professionally, I have worked in strategic and crisis communications in New York City, where I helped shape high-stakes narratives for clients. I’ve also gone through the standardized testing and admissions process myself, scoring highly on the GRE (169 V/168Q scorer), SAT (>1500 score) and securing over $350K in merit scholarships. I understand what top schools and examiners are looking for, and how to help you get there.

Coming from an international background myself, I understand how challenging it can be to communicate your ideas clearly and confidently in high-stakes academic settings – whether that’s essays, interviews, or exams like the SAT and GRE.
My Tutoring Approach:
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all tutoring. Instead, I focus on:
- Teaching you how to think and structure your arguments, rather than memorize what to write
- Giving direct, actionable feedback you can immediately apply
- Building confidence in both written and spoken English
A typical session might include targeted drills (for SAT/GRE), live editing and feedback, timed practice, or mock speaking/interview exercises.
