It is my great pleasure to recommend Hilary Ainbender as a tutor. I have known Ms. Ainbender for twelve years as my American Sign language tutor. I have previously taken her classes at Palm Beach Community College as well as small group classes and private tutoring. Ms. Ainbender is an excellent teacher and has helped me tremendously to improve my skills in ASL.
Ms Ainbender is extremely diligent, reliable and dependable. Her lessons are very creative and she thinks of different ways in teaching how to interpret and translate ASL from English and vice versa. Ms. Ainbender is always well prepared and organized. She gives unique assignments and is very fair in how she critiques her students work. She is inspiring and motivating in helping her students to grow within their skill set and she will also cater to her students learning styles which helps students to flourish. She effectively facilitates discussions around language and culture so that her students are encompassing all parts of American Sign Language. She also assigns fun projects and incorporates ASL into games, Art, music and more. The learning environment she creates is fun and students enjoy learning. Ms. Ainbender is very dedicated to her students and easily accessible. I find it very easy to reach out to her when in need and I also find the materials she uses for class easily accessible as well. She works hard before class to ensure I have any materials that will be needed and is thoughtful in having the materials well prepared before class. She maintains a very positive and supportive environment as well as shows incredible patience when students are struggling with the language.
I have personally benefited from Ms. Ainbender’s wonderful tutelage for many years now. She has encouraged and supported me in my pursuit of achieving fluency in ASL. I enjoy the environment that she creates for teaching and especially the creative assignments. I appreciate the discussions around the language as well as the culture. Ms. Hilary Ainbender, who has been an exceptional American Sign Language (ASL) instructor for my three homeschooled children. Since my oldest child began learning ASL with Ms. Ainbender in the fall of 2013 at the age of nine, with my remaining two following suit shortly thereafter, I have had the privilege of witnessing her dedication, expertise, and ability to inspire a love for the language in my young learners.
