I have endless patience and don't hold grudges. In my experience praise and motivation work best to build a mutually respectful and fruitful working relationship. As a 20y+ teacher and graduate with three degrees, I value the importance of education and the massive difference it can make to people's lives. I love learning and convey this to my students - witnessing their adoption of a lifelong hunger for knowledge is phenomenal!

I customise my teaching according to students' strengths, needs and gaps in knowledge by using what I've learned as a classroom teacher; I combine this with the insights I've gleaned from my 1500 tutoring hours. I accelerate my students' learning by carefully crafting and delivering lessons which challenge and motivate. We'll do logic puzzles and interactive games because learning can be better embedded when having fun! Sessions range from 15-minute fluency boosters to 2-hour study modules. I teach the below to University level:
Reading music in staff notation
Composing - pastiche
Learning about history of music - style, composers, works, legacy
Comparing original and modern instruments - critical thinking
Listening practice - dynamics, pitch, timbre, instrument families
Preparing for GCSE, A-level and University exams
Smashing the theory and aural tests
