About Ashley
Hello, I'm Ashley.
I'm an experienced maths teacher and head of maths, with experience in exam marking across all boards. I have tutored privately for many years and can support you in person or online.
Students struggling with maths may have had negative experiences or cannot grasp concepts taught in a traditional manner. My breadth of experiences, not only teaching students but also teachers how to deliver effective lessons, provides me with a wealth of understanding into the variety of issues which can impact learning.
Maths has so many real-life applications, students deserve to have fun learning and match skills for examinations to opportunities for use in life.

Lessons tailored to individuals ranging from KS2-4 (inc GCSE)
Lessons are based on a four-part structure over the course of 1 hour:
-Initial assessment of the topic (this helps structure the remainder of the lesson to ensure it is tailored to your specific needs).
-Taught content, models, vocabulary and mathematical links to prior learning
-Practise, student will practise the skill to ensure embedding the learning into their long-term memory
-Assessment, mini assessment at the end of the session to identify further learning needs.
I am a teacher with 28 years in-class experience, 10 of those holding a Head of Mathematics position. I have been accredited by the NCETM (National Centre of Excellence in Teaching Mathematics) and have spent 2 years visiting schools as a mathematics professional development lead.
Qualifications:
MA, B.Ed(Hons), CAES, NPQML, NPQSL, NCETM (accredited)
