About Daniel

I'm Daniel, an experienced secondary maths teacher, Head of Maths and GCSE Examiner with over 15 years' teaching experience. I hold a PGCE and MA Education, and I've spent my career helping students of different abilities build confidence in maths and achieve the grades they're capable of.

As a Head of Maths, I have a detailed understanding of the GCSE curriculum, common misconceptions and the areas students often find most difficult. My work as a GCSE Examiner also gives me valuable insight into how exam questions are marked and where students commonly lose marks.

I work with GCSE students across the full ability range, whether they need to rebuild confidence, secure a pass or push towards the higher grades. I have particular experience helping students who feel stuck around Grades 3, 4 and 5, where targeted teaching and better exam technique can often make a significant difference.

My lessons are relaxed, clear and encouraging, but always focused on progress. I identify the areas that will make the biggest difference and tailor the tuition to the individual student.

About the lesson

My lessons are focused, supportive and built around exactly what each student needs to improve. I’m particularly interested in helping GCSE students make the crucial move from Grade 3 to Grade 4 and Grade 4 to Grade 5.

I start by identifying the specific gaps that are costing marks, rather than simply working through generic revision. Lessons then combine clear explanations, worked examples, targeted practice and GCSE exam questions.

As a Head of Maths and GCSE Examiner, I have a strong understanding of both the curriculum and how marks are awarded in exams. This allows me to help students not only improve their mathematical understanding, but also develop the exam technique needed to turn that understanding into marks.

Lessons are 60 minutes and delivered online, primarily for GCSE students in Years 10 and 11. My aim is simple: build confidence, close the right gaps and help students make measurable progress towards their next grade.
